I think they might be using the hosted vanilla, as indicated on this page the hosted solution is provided by Rackspace:

I think I know what happened, they are trying to move to the hosted version of Vanilla Forum, but the nameservers' TTL were set to too long (172800, which is like 2 weeks), they'll need to update the TTL to like 300s or something.

Hopefully it will stay up longer this time...

Actually I am not sure if it is a good idea to use hosted solutions. Most of the time from what I see, the hosted solutions are the first ones to kick you out if you are attacked. Hopefully at least RackSpace has some kind of hardware DDOS protection in place.
