Current post on the first page of LEB:

Fusa.be – €19,5/Month 4GB Dedicated Server in Oostkamp, Belgium
LetBox – $7 5120MB & $20/6 Months 2048MB OpenVZ VPS in Dallas, Texas
VPS Ace – $7 2048MB OpenVZ VPS in Buffalo, New York

It seems that 2GB is the new 128MB these days.

Where was the good time where people enjoyed talking about the low end VPS servers?

I really have no idea what people use that much memory for anyways. I have a couple of larger 2GB+ VPS's. One is a game server that uses Java so it needs all of that memory, and the other is for testing things so the memory overhead is nice.

Other than that I typically get 256MB VPS's which handles a LNMP stack well even for higher traffic websites with plenty of spare memory for other services.

What worries me more is that LEB/LET seems to encourage such a trend and 2GB RAM seems to be the new LEB norm.

Like what I've said in one of my LET posts, I missed the days when we were discussing how we can squeeze out another 5MB of RAM on a 128MB server.

And of course, that doesn't come back anymore with the way LET/LEB is going.

I agree, I'd like to see more deals for true low end servers and not 2GB 'monsters'
